Today there's more beauty
Than I had bargained for:
The sky that stark blue
The sirocco wind stirs
The air, desert warmed
And out on the campo, midfield
On a half emerged lava stack
A string of egrets on their picket line
Toughing it out
Little has changed
Walking through the vega here
Through the only view
Protected by Timanfaya
Lanzarote's recurring theme
A distinctive vista
From just behind San Bartolomé
Through the bodegas
The finest wines imaginable
Where small vines are shielded
Nestled in their pits
Pooling with picon
I remember that calima
A week of dust and heat
That smothered this lavascape
And Casona De Tao, rising above
Like an exotic wedding cake
